School Days, 3rd B-day

Maya has started school, and that has brought about a lot of changes in her life. While working on her relational skills with a larger group of kids, we have gotten a big kick out of her reports from the day, which seem to focus on her new friends, their names and what letter they sit on in class and the playground interactions. Here's a picture of M on her first day of school. Since we don't have a dog she enjoys pulling around her fake one, and we don't have to worry about it following her to school...

She's also had her first homework project. Even though the teachers gave us a week, we scrammbled to be creative at the last minute. Included is a picture of where it all took place. Glitter glue, paint, ribbon and scissors are definitely incredible tools for a 3-year old!

K, on the other hand, has learned how to grab his toes and pull off his socks. We're so proud of both of them!

Maya was extremely excited about her 3rd B-day. As the day approached, every day when we would talk about it, she would jump up and down and her face would light up, "MY BIRTHDAY PARTY IS COMING SOON!" How can you not smile and laugh when you hear that? We took her on a pony ride which she really enjoyed. 5 bucks for as long as she wanted, and she got her money's worth. I think we pulled her around on Pepper for about an hour. The day of her birthday included 3 friends over in the morning, with the family fun in the evening. Apparently all girls love Barbies and little ponies, it is hard-wired into their cute little brains! Below is Maya with her princess cake

Kids say the darndest things

M has been having lots of fun at Gym Class. She just graduated from being a "Super Beast" to a "Jazzy Bug". While we were at Priest Lake, she missed one of the classes but the gym offers make-up classes. When I asked her what she thought she was going to do at her make-up class, she responded, "Put on makeup!" She was very excited.

She has also been getting into politics as of late. While the radio was talking about Barack Obama's speech the other day, she responded to mom, "We've been to the Bahamas!"(really just her mom and dad have, but she's seen all the pictures) and a few minutes later as the radio host continued to talk about Obama, Maya responded, "Mommy, where are the llamas?" Just a few of the funny things that come out of her mouth.

Livin' at the Lake

A lot has happened since the last time we Blogged. In late July, we went to the most beautiful place in America – Priest Lake, ID. On the 17 hour road trip out, Maya learned how to pee on the side of the road and enjoyed playing in all the small town parks. On the way home when it wasn't as exciting to be in the car, she was very attentive to Keillor’s needs and our ears stating, “I think he wants his pacifier” quite frequently. What a caring younger sister!

Priest Lake was great as usual, with waterskiing, sitting on the beach, and picking huckleberries. It was fun to watch Maya pick huckleberries for the first time and run around in the water. We look forward to watching the kids enjoy the lake for years to come. We're sure Keillor's response to the sand pictured below won't last long, he'll love it some day!
